Most importantly, the advance of technology has turned parenting a much more demanding duty. From meal to meal, parents must keep a vigilant eye on what youngsters eat, ridding of any possibility of consuming harmful additives or chemical residuals because foods have been technologically made more delicious but also detrimental. When the young use electronic devices—smartphones, TV, the Internet—a responsible parent must regulate their time of using the devices to prevent being addicted to them, censor the contents to be read or watched, and do their best to make sure the underage do not stray into false fancy or fraud on the virtual cyberspace. By contrast,although children five decades ago could not enjoy myriads of technology-achieved excitements, parents were less worried about seeing their children falling prey to cavities, myopia, or abduction because of synthesized candies, TV-watching and socializing websites.

It has been mentioned in reading that pythons have posed a threat to the safety of Florida populations, so three countermeasures are thus proposed to solve this threat. The lecturer, nonetheless, argue that such proposals actually ring hollow and may prove futile.

The first proposal is to take advantage of dogs’ keen sense of smell, which may suggest precise location of the pythons. However feasible this proposal appears, it is held in doubt because Florida has many watery areas, and water could conceal the smell of pythons while subjecting the dogs to pythons’ attack in water.

Furthering the discussion of keeping pythons in control, the writer then suggests the possibility of setting up traps across the state. This proposal, as the lecture counters again, may not work since the traps could only catch wrong targets because pythons mostly sit and wait for their preys rather than slither around.

It is granting the local people to hunt for pythons, finally, that stands as another/last prescription for the snake problem. This proposed solution, regretfully, may still fall short as only 68 pythons have been reported to be caught with 1000 “snake-hunters” to fulfill the task; it proves a low-efficiency but high-cost undertaking.
